PREPPY

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share my most favourite style; Preppy. Thanks to the brilliant stylists on the show ‘Gossip Girl’ who are responsible for the amazing ensembles Blair Waldorf wears, we are seeing the traditional and very classic preppy style being taken to a new level. With the combination of youthful accessories and bold colours with uniform structure, Blair adds a new and fun dimension to the ‘Preppy’ image.

The word ‘Preppy’ comes from the word preparatory. The style drew inspiration from the North Eastern private schools and IV league colleges in the USA.  Any clothing related to the sophisticated sports such as tennis, polo, rugby and sailing were associated with the ‘Preppy’ style.  Traditional ‘Preppy ‘ brands are Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Lilly Politzer, Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers and J Crew. You will have noticed how several designers have taken aspects of the 'Preppy' trend and used them in their current collections.

I have styled 3 ‘Preppy’ looks below and have included one of my own designs in each. It shows  how I have been inspired and influenced by this trend.  I have  also included a variety of ‘Preppy’ inspired dresses, jackets, coats, shoes, socks and accessories for you to reference.
