Tapestry

Hello everyone! Well, Australia said goodbye to Summer last week and welcomes Autumn.  Although it does seem like the sun has decided to extend its stay. I am so ready for Autumn. As I've said before, I prefer to dress for the colder months. I love combining different layers and textures to create rich looks.
I thought the best way to welcome Autumn was to share the 'Tapestry' trend.
I fell in love with the F/W 2012  Dolce & Gabbana collection which presented detailed embroidered texture tapestries down the runway. Some might find it hard to wear fabric that they recognise from their granparents couch. I had to laugh when I sat down on my parents couch wearing my tapestry shorts and couldn’t tell where my waist started and finished.  However, fashion welcomes this textile back in all types of apparel and accessories. The best part is, there are affordable options out there.
I jumped on this trend last year and bought tapestry shorts and dresses from Hong Kong. I have been waiting for Summer to pass so I can wear the dresses.  I couldn't decide between the two colours so I got both. I had my dress maker add a black frill to the hemline to create a more full shape as well as add length to them. Here they are: Which colour do you prefer?

Gary Pepper, Rag & Bone, D&G.
